I’m sure there are admin reasons why the last date to register a roster is so many days before the season begins, Snake drafts needing to be carried out etc., but I do wonder how many registrations for Classic and $6M will be missed by not leaving it open for longer.

        Hi,

It’s a fair point and you’re correct, the closing date of end of Sat 8th was chosen mainly to allow time to deal with all the admin involved in setting up each division in the three draft league formats (FBUK League, LTD and H2H). It seems early but it only leaves one clear weekend between closing date (8 Mar) and when the drafts take place (21–23 Mar) and there is usually some follow-up emails required in-between, to make sure managers have joined their league before the draft.

The closing date also means I have a good sense by that point of how many teams will take part in the salary cap leagues (Classic / $6m) to know whether it’s viable to run them, because I need to pay the Fantrax fees fairly soon after renewing the leagues for the coming season. It then gives managers around two weeks to build their rosters before Opening Day.

If someone asks to join a league after registration has closed, I will always do my best to get them in.

          Hi Tim,

it is good to know that any late comers wanting to be part of either Classic or $6M still have the chance to do so. If I may suggest that this is explained it will surely avoid any missed late-comers who don’t realise what they have to do. It is in the interest of additional income to FBUK that I make this point because I can appreciate the fine margins involved financially.

On your point of the viability of the Classic and $6M leagues, any late-comers will obviously add positive influence in this regard. It is generally the case that people will rush to sign up days before a season begins (and often days after) and when this is combined with those who have not yet seen the $5M now has an extra £1M it remains likely that those registering for the $6M will increase. Perhaps the Classic will also receive one or two more, too, although I tend to think the hardcore Classic faithful have been on board from the earliest opportunity.

The numbers this year do seem higher than what they were 3-weeks before Opening Day last year. This is a positive thing to note. It is positive because new registrations for the Classic and $6M Leagues will also come from new participants already signed up to play for free but are tired of kicking their heels waiting and want something else to focus on. There’s another good reason to explain that registration for Classic and $6M can still happen by contacting you.
