It’s an idea that has been mooted for the past few years but finally became reality on Tuesday 8 May when MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and London Mayor Sadiq Kahn held a press conference to announce the ‘London Series’, a two-game regular season series featuring one of the biggest rivalries in sport, the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. The games will be held on 29 and 30 June next year at the London Stadium, the centrepiece of the 2012 Olympic Games.
The games in London are part of MLB’s efforts to market Major League Baseball around the globe and to promote the development of baseball and softball as world and Olympic sports. Previously, regular-season MLB games have been played in Japan, Australia, Mexico and Puerto Rico, but these will be the first Major League games to be played in Europe.
MLB has announced a special pre-registration for priority access to tickets through mlb.com/londonseries.

Has there been any discussion of a FBUK trip to watch these games? It would be great for a small number of us to get together for this event.
Lots of things need to come together to make this all work but it could be done as simply as sharing a few cars and the passengers subbing fuel money to the driver. Various meeting places could be set up in major cities, ie 1 car driver living close to Birmingham could expect to meet 3 people at a key place and then drive to London, similarly in other cities with other drivers. 29th & 30th June is Friday and Saturday so accommodation in London won’t be cheap and perhaps just a trip to see one game or the other is the answer.
Seems like a decent idea to me and I wonder if anyone agrees with me on this and would like to see what can be set up.
